Make a Hairpin Crochet Fork out of a Wire Coat Hanger

Hairpin Lace or Hairpin Crochet is very popular at the moment. This is a quick way to make a Hairpin Crochet fork out of a wire coat hanger. This presents a great way to find out if you like the technique at minimal cost!!

Step 1

This is a very simple Great Idea to make a Hairpin Crochet fork out of a bent coat hanger! A hairpin fork simply needs to have two 'prongs' which are parallel, therefore the coat hanger needs to be cut and shaped with the ends filed smooth.

Step 2

Take a wire coat hanger and a pair of wire cutters. Cut one side of the coat hanger

Step 3

Bend the coat hanger so that the prongs are parallel. This might be more easily done by bending the coat hanger around a metal bar or pipe. Cut off the second prong so it is the same length as the first and file off any rough edges.

Step 4

Hairpin crochet forks of different sizes can be made using this technique. To keep the crochet on the fork if you leave it whilst working - try putting two corks onto the end of the fork to stop the work from slipping off.
