Easy Basic Egg Cosy / Cozy - Knitting
This is a really easy knitting pattern for an egg cozy.
Knitted egg Cozies are really quick and easy to knit The knitting pattern below is for a really basic cozy, however with some imagination it could be turned into something a little more exciting. Add some beads, or a pompom - take a look at the crochet egg cozies here for some more ideas.
The knitting pattern below gives instructions for knitting the egg cozy in a flat piece with two needles, but could be converted to knitting in the round using double pointed needles if you prefer.
Materials
Odds and ends of Double Knitting Yarn
Anything required for decoration, buttons, beads, ribbon...
Equipment
4.5mm or similar needles
Instructions
Cast on 26 stitches and work 16 rows in Garter Stitch. (Tip: An easy way to count the rows in garter stitch is to remember that 2 rows + 1 'ridge')
Work the following rows by Knitting 2 Together until there are 3 stitches left (when you have a row with an odd stitch at the end knit this as normal) and then cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread the yarn through the remaining stitches and draw tight and then sew up the side of the cozy.
