Below are some FAQ’s about what makes a Great Idea, please contact us if you have any more questions or comments about the site.

What is the site all about?
We are creating an online community with a focus on yarn crafts - in particular anything Knitting and Crochet related.  So... if you are looking for ideas for things to knit or crochet, or an idea for a knitting book to read, or ideas for using up odds and ends, or ideas on a whole range of woolly subjects then you will find them here!

Our own free patterns will be available, and designers wishing to promote their own work and publish their designs and patterns will be able to do so too.

Knitters and Crocheters are able to share book reviews - or reviews of websites, equipment etc, and are welcome to write articles on any knit or crochet related subject (or perhaps even some short stories with a yarn focus...?).

There will be a forum where people can meet and have a natter, exchange notes, or simply drop by to say hello.

We want this site to provide ideas which aren’t simply good – we want this site to be packed full of ideas which are Great! It might be something to make or do, a way to save or make money, to learn something new etc; in fact we hope that there will be no limit to the range of subjects which Great Ideas covers.

What makes a Great Idea?
Our definition of a Great Idea is something that inspires someone else to do something.  It may be a pattern that they can customize, it may be a book review that encourages them to go and seek it out.  It could be a new technique or a whole new craft or simply the answer someone’s been looking for all their life!

Who can submit a Great Idea?
Great Ideas are invited from anyone who has an idea that they would like to share on any subject, which is written clearly, in an easy to follow style and peppered with enthusiasm. Great Ideas are invited from individuals of all ages and backgrounds, from companies, experts, industry leaders, organisations, community groups.

The aim is to provide an extensive database which can be accessed by all. The only rules are that the Great Ideas must follow the ethos of the site, and must be appropriate to be viewed by people of any age or background. More information about the site rules can be found here.

How do I submit an idea?
To submit an idea first visit What makes a Great Idea? which gives some hints and tips on how to write a Great Idea. Once you are ready to go, visit the Submit an Idea page and follow the directions. It's easy to do – however we are never far away to provide help!

I want to submit an idea – what is in it for me?
Apart from the glory of knowing that you are part of the Great Idea community you also have the benefit of promoting your own website, blog or service if required. As the site grows and increasing numbers of people visit, you will attract more people to your idea and this will help publicise you and your work, positioning you as an expert in your field. However if you wish just to have the inner satisfaction of knowing that your Idea is Great then this too is fine!
